Our 10th fri. lassitude post! A minuscule milestone to our weekly ritual!
Couple weeks ago, we had touched on our screen printing/ packaging process. On a similar note, we also print postcard size visual guides for our denim collection. Few reasons on why we did this:
i. Its a fun graphic composition exercise (aka we hv too much time on hand)
ii. There's a snippet of denim features on the back: for folks who are not familiar with our denim details
iii. Who doesn't love hanging denim-focus postcards on their walls?!
We are at the 11th versions of these; pick them up in our stockists.
Till next week, cheers everyone!
p.s. to the sharp-eyed: the postcard footer block matches the inseam color on that specific denim batch. Subtle visual cue, yea? :)

Contrary to what the anemic/bendgate bourgeois suggested, we typically place our phones in the backpocket. Primarily to build up fades and also for empirical reasons.
At the very beginning, we designed our pocket size based on the practicality to hold things (phone dimensions in this case). Apparently, we have to scratch that thought once the phalet size iphone 6plus came out.
With the event/new iphone announcement around the corner, we put together a collage of progressive backpocket iphone fades; for reminiscence and for a cornucopia of well-aged denim!
Enjoy & Cheers to everyone.

Capitol Hill - our favorite neighborhood in Seattle. Encompassed by these amazing establishments w/ such dynamic vibe. Walking distance from the downtown, right by the constantly jammed HWY 5 (SF-ist: imagine like the bay bridge peak hour traffic but w/ accidents, all-the-time!!)
Here is a list of spots we love and keep on going back whenever we were in town:
Purveyor:
Glasswing - Rustic and essential. From storefront decor to engaging, knowledgeable staffs, these folks are setting a gold standard to shopping experience. It was founded by a group of friends who share strong passions in quality goods and fine craft. We are stoked that our denim are exclusively available at this exceptional store. While you are at it, you can't miss the melrose market next door. Everything @ Melrose Market is great. Quite literally.
Totokaelo - Great white space and new connecting staircase. The interior is serene and filled with strong curation of luxe goods. Great place to splurge; we took pilgrimage to this store since their western avenue days.
Eatery:
Oddfellows Cafe & Bar - Lovely ambiance to sip a glass of wine and pause. Get the porchetta sandwich as well: slow roasted pork, garlic aioli with coleslaw. Mouth-watering.
Pike Street Fish Fry - This could be controversial but heck, its gotta be the best fish and chips in Seattle. The batter. The fish. The perfect crispiness of fries. The divey-ness. In short, we usually made special trip to grab an extra to-go order before returning flight; and its still D-E-L-I-S-H after hours. Mind blogging, huh?
Caffeine:
Analog Coffee - The cafe has an array of periodicals and comics for your reading leisure. A very solid cup of Cappuccino.
Victrola Coffee Roasters - These coffee geeks always remind us what Blue Bottle Coffee were/might have been, prior to their seething expansion. An outstanding beacon, even from this overly caffeine saturated 'hood.
That's about it! Check 'em out if you happened to be in town. You may have noticed that we intentionally skipped the bar/drink genre, coz in our mind there's no such thing as bad libation smile emoticon
Cheers everyone, till next week!

Back in the 1930s, first conceived as remedy to hide those exposed back pocket rivets from scratching on anything the bottom hits (leather furniture/ horse saddle, etc - the gd old cowboy days).
(4) flat rivets covered by the denim fabrics, were added at the top corners of each back pocket as reinforcement.
This making is intricate and requires a higher level of precision (if the needle lands on one of these hidden rivets, it will subsequently break the machine, which happened many times during our diligent prototyping).
The result is a subtle epitome of form follows function. But like many complex details that required extra dedication, the denim industry had gradually phased out this seemingly trivial feature w/ simple bar tack stitch.
We started to reintroduce this eminent detail in all of our current batches across all styles, with the exception of Women Skinny. Beyond its heritage and yet functional nature, we love how this minimal detail progress thru wears. The top corners of the back pocket will now fade more substantially and become a visual cue for those in the know.
We saved the very first piece of our hidden rivet prototype and mounted in the studio as a daily reminder, as Mies eloquently said: God is in the detail.
We are evangelists for subtle and sophisticated detailing. We believe in stepping out of the comfort zone and follow the heart & ideals.
More importantly, we believe there will be folks out there that also appreciate a pair of simple but extraordinarily-crafted denim.
We are wishfully positive that you will like this storied detail as much as we do.
Start wearing your own manifesto.
