When we are not sketching/sewing or conversing with denimheads, we are constantly exploring the SF ever-changing 'foodscape'. From the uber exquisite Saison (arm & leg splurge) to the arguably-equally-quintessential la taqueria. We are down for all kinds of great culinary experiences.
For casual (pricey) comfort food w/ a twist, our default jt. is State Bird Provisions San Francisco. Asides from its nationwide accolades and celeb spotting; SBP serves new wave Californian fares in a tapas/dim sum cart setting. Beef tongue w/ horseradish & buckwheat pancake got an unanimous vote from us trio.
While there's not much trick to cut the line (we once read someone tried to bride the hostess w/ a Bill Murray collect card: very nice try, no dice thou =)), persistence is typically the key. Either you wake up at 6am and reserve online 3 months ahead, OR you can try getting there at 5pm on a weekday, hang at either The Social Study or Karaoke next door, come back to join their last round of service.
We def prefer the latter.
Big shout out to the SBP team & we are super grateful to have amazingly eclectic food choices in SF.
till next week, cheers everyone!
p.s. The Progress next door from the same team is great, but we love SBP better. love the interior thou. chk out the story here:
